A therapy recognized by the health authorities

Your RV cure

The Respiratory Tract spa treatment is recognized by the health authorities as both a curative and a preventive treatment.

The thermal springs at Cambo-les-Bains are renowned for their richness in trace elements and minerals, creating an environment conducive to relaxation and healing of the respiratory tract.

Depending on the pathology, thermal water in contact with the upper or lower respiratory mucous membranes liquefies mucus build-up to facilitate evacuation, gently cleanses bacterial infections and soothes tissue inflammation.

Whether it’s an 18-day package or a 5-day package, your Respiratory Tract spa treatment takes place in the same way every day: it lasts around 1 h 30 and includes 6 spa treatments.

Each cure is tailor-made, adapted to the specific needs of each curist under the supervision of a qualified medical team.

Thermal treatments for the respiratory tract

Individual aerosol

As the mask exits, thermal water particles are released, reaching deep into the respiratory tract.

Sonic aerosol

A low-frequency sonic vibrator, coupled to the individual aerosols, transmits a certain energy to the particles, enabling them to reach low-permeability areas of the respiratory tree such as the sinuses.

Manosonic aerosol

This therapeutic procedure is identical to sonic aerosol, but with the addition of a gradual overpressure component linked to swallowing. This device allows the active ingredients in the thermal water to penetrate directly into the Eustachian tube, and provides kinesitherapy for the muscles in this tube through repeated sessions over the 18 days of the cure.

Nasal Bath

It’s the thermal version of the “Stérimar spritz”, with the added benefit of thermal minerals. A pipette of water is inserted into each nostril to dilute and evacuate mucus and bring the anti-inflammatory chemicals (sulfur, silica) into contact with the tissues.

Drinking cure

The internal effects of the drinking cure are a basic element of the spa treatment, thanks to the physico-chemical composition of the mineral waters and their trace elements in particular. Spa guests must scrupulously comply with the spa doctor’s prescriptions, which specify how much to take and when.

Postural drainage

Exercises to clear bronchial tubes

Emanatorium

Thermal steam bath.

As well as 3 treatments provided solely by the spa doctor:

Eustachian tube insufflation

the spa doctor introduces the thermal gases into the Eustachian tube, using a probe gently inserted along the floor of the nasal cavity, emitting thermal gases. Pressure is adjustable and controlled. It mechanically unblocks the tubes and sweeps out secretions. This treatment promotes tubo-tympanic rehabilitation in children.

Gargle

Thermal spring water acts directly on the mucous membrane of the pharynx, hydrating and impregnating it with active ingredients (sulfur, trace elements, minerals).

Humidifying fogging

Two thermal compounds are used for this treatment: sulfur-charged water and gases from thermal water. The whole is propelled into a mask, into which you inhale through your nose and mouth to impregnate your respiratory mucous membranes (nasal cavity, oropharynx, bronchi). We’re targeting another form of contact between the mineral elements in thermal water and damaged tissue, with the aim of reducing inflammation.

Nasal irrigation

It liquefies and evacuates viscous mucus from the nasal cavities, restoring natural, functional breathing. A fine cannula is inserted into a nostril, connected to a low flow of thermal water. The flow passes from one nostril to the other, taking with it any unwanted elements.

Spraying

A jet of thermal water, broken up by a fine sieve, projects a multitude of droplets onto your pharynx. This spray acts in two stages: gentle detersion of the pharyngeal mucosa (evacuation of mucus and any pathogenic bacteria) and contact with the mineral elements in the thermal spring water (sulfur), which helps absorb inflammation.

Respiratory rehabilitation

Immersion shower in a medicinal pool

Immersed for 10 minutes in a pool of thermal water, you are placed in front of a ramp of high-pressure underwater jets. An ascending sequence of jets is projected onto your back, “massaging” the muscle masses on either side of the spine, all the way up to the coccyx. This treatment targets the large “superficial” muscles (upper and lower trapezius, latissimus dorsi, thoracolumbar fascia).

Pharyngeal shower

Dispensed using a pharyngeal “gun” by the doctor himself, it exerts a scouring action on the tonsil crypts and pharyngeal wall.

Proëtz displacement method

This practice is also the exclusive responsibility of the spa doctor. A pump system ensures water penetration into the sinus cavities, providing a complete sinus wash.

Choose the formula best suited to your condition
