How much tobacco and alcohol can I bring back from Spain?

For alcohol, the maximum quantities allowed per person of hard liquor, soft liquor, wine and beer are as follows:

– strong alcohol and spirits over 22 degrees: 10 liters

– intermediate alcohol, less than or equal to 22 degrees: 20 liters

– wine: 90 liters

– beer: 110 liters

These maximum quantities can be accumulated by category of alcohol.

As far as tobacco is concerned, no threshold has been set by France since the end of March 2024. However, it is recommended to keep to the level set by European regulations, i.e. 800 cigarettes (4 cartons), 400 cigarillos, 200 cigars and 1 kg of smoking tobacco. It is strictly forbidden to purchase cigarettes for sale. With no threshold, French customs officers now have the option of seizing and punishing those for whom there is a presumption of trade, and therefore of illegal trade, on the basis of a body of evidence.

As quantity thresholds are subject to change, we advise you to consult the official French administration website to find out the quantities applicable during your stay.
